Landscape Boulders And Rocks Create A Natural Residential Garden And Yard

by Tanya Green

A landscaped yard, with natural boulders, rocks, and native plants, can create a beautiful setting for your residence. With planning and a good landscape designer, you can create a one-of-a-kind patio, deck, seating area, fire pit, and/or terraced garden in your yard with local landscape rocks and boulders. Here are some ideas for creating natural rock structures and areas in your residential yard:

Carved Benches And Seats:  A landscape design company can carve benches and seats into existing boulders and rocks in your residential yard. These benches can be carved with chain saws with diamond saw blades, hand chisels, and other masonry tools. To stabilize these creations, steel rods can be inserted into boulders and rocks and buried into the soil or adjacent rock walls to give them strength and permanence.

Waterfalls and Streams:  You can have a landscape design company create a stream with a waterfall and a pool in your yard for fish and aquatic plants. These features add humidity and moisture to your yard and attract wildlife. A wandering stream can help to irrigate the trees, grasses, and plants in your yard. Bird baths can also be installed in several areas to encourage wild birds to come to your yard.

Fire Pits:  A fire pit with an outdoor cooking area can be a great place to relax and entertain in your yard. You can build a fire pit with surrounding seats and a simple cooking grate, or you can build a complete outdoor kitchen with a rotating spit, gas grill,  and outdoor cabinetry. Natural rock tables can also be built for dining around the fire pit. These structures require no maintenance and are safe to remain outdoors in any weather.

Stairways, Walkways, and Fencing:  Natural rocks and boulders can be the primary elements of stairways, walkways, and fences. Smaller rocks and stones can fill in between the main elements and natural flagstone pavers can be used to create flat pathways between them. When building a rock fence, you can use concrete between natural rocks that is strong enough to create garden terraces.

Terraced Gardens:  Natural garden terraces are a great solution for a sloped residential yard. You can plant some terraced sections with flowers and plants, and some with fruits and vegetables. Terraces can also be used as a planting area for shade trees and boundary fences.

For unique, one-of-a-kind creations in your residential yard, contact a landscape design company that specializes in working with rocks and boulders. Ask them what native rocks and boulders are available in your local area and what landscape rock can be brought in from other locations. With time and creativity, you can create a natural outdoor haven where you can relax, play, and entertain your family and friends in a unique garden like no other.

About Me

Exploring Landscape Setups

Hello, I am Manny Juanez. When I moved into my home, I instantly started to plan out my landscape features. I knew that I wanted a small waterfall leading to a pond for my fish. I also wanted to create a few raised beds around the sitting area by the pond. What I didn't know, however, was that the project would take a lot of manpower and a bit of professional help. My site will explore the process from grading the land to setting up the electrical components. I will also talk about building the garden beds with pavers and other found materials. The information I provide should help you create a beautiful layout in your back or front yards. Come back to my site whenever you need some inspiration.
